It is bound in burgundy cloth with gilt shield and crossed swords on the front binding and gilt lettering and decoration on the spine. Book is very clean, straight & very tight (perhaps unread). There is some light wear of edges, mostly at the upper & lower spine, corners are lightly bumped & worn. There is slightly darker (than binding cloth) stain on the front upper edge and extending downwards unevenly for a couple of inches (not particularly noticeable). Pages are clean and very tight without marks or tears. The frontispiece has a protective tissue guard, which is intact. Book is divided into three parts; Part I is The Parisians Of The Stone Age; Part II is The Lacustrian City (Age of Polished Stone) and Part III is The Foundation Of Paris (Age of Metal).
