Hayden, Ruth, et al.
Mrs. Delany's Flower Collages from the British Museum.

New York; Pierpont Morgan Library: 1986. Mary Granville Delany (1700-1788) took up the craft of paper-collage at the age of 72 when her failing eyesight made embroidery work, at which she excelled, impossible. She created marvelously detailed and intricate collages of botanical specimens from dyed papers of many types, pictures so lifelike and accurate that they appear at first glance to be watercolors. The King and Queen were so impressed by her work that they had Sir Joseph Banks, Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, send her specimens of any new types of plants received from voyages abroad. Softcover. 5.5"x8.5", 21 pages, b/w and several color illustrations; light wear.
