You must be registered as a seller in order to list something for sale. Registration is simple and quick.

Hints on how to list efficiently can be found in the Seller Guide.

Simply fill in the blanks on the List Something For Sale Form.

Location:
Give enough information of your whereabouts (state, zip code, etc) so that potential bidders can estimate shipping costs.

Headline:
This is the title which will appear on the Item Listings page. It is what users will see when they are browsing, so you should make it as striking and descriptive as you can. You can use a maximum of 50 characters for the headline, including spaces and punctuation. No HTML, please!

Boldface option.
If you check this box your listing will appear in boldface and, assuming not everyone around you has chosen this option, it will stand out from the other listings. It will, however, cost you an extra $1.00 if you check this box.

Description.
Here you should describe whatever it is you have for sale. You are unlikely to run out of space, so feel free to be as verbose as you like. It is generally a good idea to describe your objet fully and accurately. You can also put in here how you would like to be paid (check, COD, credit card, etc.) and shipping terms.

Categories.
Please don't list your stuff in a category where it really doesn't belong!

Featured option.
You can elect to have your objet featured in the category in which you have listed it. A featured objet appears in a special list at the head of each category and is more likely to be seen by users browsing the category. For the category in which it is featured, however, you will be charged an extra $1.50.

Start The Bidding At.
You can set whatever Minimum Bid you like (starting at $1.00). The system will not accept bids below the number you choose. For the greatest likelihood of getting bids, however, we recommend you keep this number low. You can protect yourself by putting in a Reserve price.

Reserve Price.
You may if you wish put a reserve price on your objet. The reserve is not public, except that notice is posted when bids do not meet the reserve price. You are more likely to get bids when you do not have a reserve.

Quantity.
Put here how many you have for sale. There is an upper limit of 10. When the quantity is more than 1, the auction is automatically a Dutch Auction. In the Dutch Auction, you are obligated to sell the entire number of objets (or any number up to the total number) at the lowest price which clears the market (ie the lowest price at which you will sell the entire lot). In the case of tied bids, earlier bids take precedence. Note that you will be charged the $0.25 listing fee for each quantity that you list (ie listing fee = quantity x $0.25).

Duration of Auction.
Choose the 3-, 7- or 10-day option. The default is 7.

Pictures.
You can include a picture of your object. The steps for doing so are:

  1. Take a picture with a digital camera or scanner.
  2. Save it as or convert it and save it as a JPEG or GIF file. Eg filename.jpg
  3. Store it at a site which is internet accessible (ie which can be addressed via a URL). Almost all internet providers give free space to their subscribers. Ask your provider how you can store picture files on your free web space.
  4. Note the URL of the file. This is usually quite a long name like: http\\:pages.prodigy.net/jondoe/filename.jpg.
  5. Insert the picture's URL in the box provided on the list form.
If everything has been done correctly, you will see the picture when you submit the form. If not, then either the picture has not yet been stored at the URL you gave or something went wrong when you uploaded the picture to that URL.
