The best way to ship merchandise weighing under 10 pounds or so is via US Postal Service, believe it or not. US Priority mail costs just $3.00 for a 1-pound box, and sturdy, easy to use boxes for Priority Mail are free from the Post Office. Their rates for heavier packages are also very competitive.

Alternatively, UPS and Fedex offer package delivery service which is more expensive, but very reliable. You can even open a UPS account, and the driver will come every day (or every week, as you wish) and pick your packages up for you.
It is customary throughout the mail-order world for the buyer to pick up the costs of postage. But you can help your customers cut costs by using the most cost-effective delivery service, and by offering a shipping discount on multiple shipments.
